Students

Distance Students

A distance student is a student currently enrolled at WSU who has classes meeting less than once a week at Winona or for students who attend remote classes from a place other than Winona.

If you are a WSU distance student, Krueger Library will mail you books or scan and e-mail you articles from the library collection, as well as mail requested resource sharing materials.

You have access to our online library, which includes ebooks and full-text articles from our databases. Use your StarID and password to access these from anywhere.

Receiving and Picking up Items

Books and DVDs

Krueger Library can mail books and DVDs to you. Use OneSearch to find books and DVDs, and sign in with your StarID and password to request the item. To have it mailed to you respond to the On Hold email you receive with your mailing address.

You are responsible for shipping costs to return the item to the library.

Articles/Chapter scans

There are two ways you can receive articles from Resource Sharing: an email with an attachment or an email containing a link and PIN with instructions to download your article.

  • You may receive an email with an attachment from interlibraryloan@winona.edu.
  • Minitex (medd@othello.minitex.umn.edu) or another library may email you a link with login information.

If you receive your article from Minitex, you have a limited time to download your article. It will be removed in 7 days or after 5 viewings. Please download and save it to your device before this time.

WSU-Rochester Students

WSU students in the Rochester area also have access to some services at Rochester Community and Technical College's (RCTC) Goddard Library.

At Goddard Library, WSU-R students can:

  • Use library computers and printers (Log on using the WSU network. You'll have access to your print quota, too).
  • Reserve study rooms
  • Check out books
  • Use databases while on campus
  • Get reference help at the Reference Desk by phone, email, chat, or by appointment (however, many times students are referred to Krueger Library).
  • Use study spaces in the library

At Goddard Library, WSU-R students cannot:

  • Use resource sharing services through Goddard Library
  • Access databases and e-books from off campus.

Services that are not available through Goddard Library are still available through Krueger Library and, for the majority of your coursework, we recommend using Krueger Library's resources and services.
