This LibGuide is a supplemental resource meant to support students, faculty, and community members who engage with the "Greater Minnesota Two-Spirit & LGBTQIA+ History Map" exhibit.
This exhibit gives us a glimpse into the Greater Minnesota Two-Spirit & LGBTQIA+ History Map participatory story project, developed by the Minnesota Historical Society. In addition to being a preview for this massive statewide project, the exhibit also invites participants to contribute by submitting known historical sites. Communities can thus contribute towards the telling of Two-Spirit and LGBTQIA+
Minnesota histories.
The exhibit is sponsored by our local WSU Grants & Sponsored Projects, Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies program, and the Krueger Library. It will be displayed throughout the month of April.
There are many ways that LGBTQIAS2+ communities refer to themselves. Throughout this guide, you may see LGBTQ, S2LGBTQIA+, LGBTQIA+, and LGBTQIAS(2)+ used interchangeably. When you are doing searches, especially for secondary sources, it will benefit you to search LGBT*. The asterisk will then allow the database to pull entries catalogued with other forms of the acronym that differ after LGBT-.
